Standard apart from K&N filter.
Recent new front/rear outriggers and rustproof treatment applied - all done at Sebring International (£1744). If you are familiar with the Chimera you will know how important these chassis sections are. Typically (even with the application of waxoil) at 10 years old the TVR original outriggers will be worse for wear.........
Original condition, starts, stops and goes as you would expect from this type of car. Even though its 'only' the 4.0HC there is masses of power and torque - it's a seriously quick car.
I have owned this car twice - first from March 05 - May 06 and then again from August 2007 to present.
Bodywork
All original - marks consistent with age - some small ones near the boot and the nose carries a few stonechips as you would expect.
No crazing/cracking. Rear window has 8cm of loose stitching.
Mechanical
People always ask me how the reliability of the Chimera is and to be honest it's the most reliable car I have ever had - the only time it has failed to start in 5 years was due to a failing alarm transponder.
Interior
Standard - no modifications, it even has its original stereo. Leather seats are in good condition. Roof is fine but the rear window has a tiny hole in it - doesn't leak except when you point a hose at it. All electrics work OK.
On the road
Smooth, powerful and relatively economical (28-30mpg on a run). The noise is of course amazing............as you would expect, sharp handling, no knocks from the suspension, no overheating (fans kick in at the right temperature) and its very, very quick especially in the mid-range.
History
Orignally purchased from Henly TVR and looked after by them. I have no service book (it was damaged beyond repair in a household accident by the 3rd owner) but have all the bills etc. since it has been in my care.
It has been looked after by RT Racing (Sheffield) and more recently Sebring TVR. All the independents have always commented on what a nice example it is.
Last service was in July (only a couple of thousand miles since) last year and it had new driveshaft boots done at Sebring.
In addition in the last year it has had new:
radiator
drop link arm
alternator
HT leads
new battery
4 relatively recent Toyo Proxes.
clutch master cylinder and a;
4 wheel align and suspension cambers done a couple of months ago
Always garaged, cleaned and polished regularly with Autoglym products and looks fantastic with the roof on or off.
Open to offers on the car - no tyre kickers/messers. Test drives will only be available with proof of insurance.
It's not new, its not perfect but it is a very good example
